National Driver Registry (NDR) Indefinite Suspension

Ohio Revised Code Section 4507.08 (D) (S)

A driver is processed through the PDPS (Problem Drivers Pointer System) formerly through the National Driver Registry (NDR) or in the case of an application for a Commercial Driver License (CDL), through Commercial Driver License Information System (CDLIS) if:
          • Driver is requesting a "First" Ohio driver license and is over 18 years of age.
          • An Ohio driver that is required to be re-tested due to suspension reinstatement requirements or cancellation of license.
          • A licensed driver from another state and applying for an Ohio license.

Cause
          • Applying for an Ohio driver license while under suspension in another state.

Length of Suspension
          • Indefinite.

Appeal Procedures
          • May request an administrative hearing by writing to the BMV within 30 days of the date of the suspension notice is received.

Reinstatement Requirements
          • Driver must present a clearance letter from the Bureau or Department of Motor Vehicles in the state(s) in which he/she is suspended or PDPS indicates an ELIGIBLE status.
          • Mail clearance letter to:
            Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles
            Attn: CDL / In-State
            P.O. Box 16784
            Columbus OH 43216-6784
          • Additionally, a reinstatement fee will be required (if the suspension notice was mailed on or after 10/01/97).
